Virgil was born and raised in Yuba City and has been in the construction/development industry for over 29 years, 26 of those years as a California-licensed contractor. He is president of Atkinson Construction & Development, Inc., which was incorporated in 2002. Currently under construction is a house on 7 acres on Fortna Road in West Yuba City off Township Road. Atkinson Construction recently built some of the houses in the Hillcrest Courtyard Development and 34 houses in the Sundance Estates Development in South Yuba City off Lincoln Road between Phillips and Jones Roads. Additional projects built by Atkinson Construction & Development include: Spinnaker Estates and Shasta Way Homes in Linda, CA; Briarwood Homes, a 31-lot subdivision in Yuba City; Sunset Estates, 18 one-acre lots West of Yuba City out in Sutter County, and Butte House Road Estates in Yuba City. Atkinson Construction & Development, Inc. has also built custom homes in Yuba City, Granite Bay, Fairfield, Lake Wildwood and has just completed a residence in Whispering Canyon Estates in Roseville. In addition to new construction, they have remodeled over 74 apartments and 149 homes in Santa Rosa, California and numerous homes in Yuba City and Marysville CA. Previous ventures include a successful landscape construction business and landscaped a home in South Yuba City that was featured in Sunset magazine. That same company also landscaped a condominium project also in South Yuba City that was named “one of the top five projects in the Western States” in West Coast Builder’s Magazine. Virgil is also the President of Atkinson & Oji Development, Inc. His partner is Ardie Oji. In 2003-4, they developed Hillcrest Courtyard, a subdivision located in Yuba City consisting of 56 half-plex units and three single-family homes. Atkinson & Oji Development moved on from that project to develop half of a 72-lot subdivision in South Yuba City called Sundance Estates. It is located on Lincoln and Phillips Roads in Yuba City. The balance of the property was developed by another local developer. Future projects include a Ranchette project consisting of four lots ranging from three to seven acres each. That project is located in West Yuba City in Sutter County. Virgil has served on the Board of Directors of the Yuba-Sutter Builders and Developers Association and is currently in the Past President’s position on the board. In addition, he has been a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, has coached a couple of youth athletic teams, and is very involved with his church. He served a two-year mission in Los Angeles in his youth. He also served as the first Yuba City California Stake Mission President and recently served as a Ward Mission Leader. Other church callings include serving on the Stake High Council, in a Ward Bishopric as a counselor to the Bishop, and various other church callings. He is currently living in Yuba City with his wife, Roxane. They have been married for 28 years and have a family of five children and one grandchild with another on the way this Spring.
Ms. Bodine was born and raised in Yuba City and graduated from UCLA with a BA in Sociology. She moved to Boston, MA and worked on the Tutorial Project at M.I.T., then moved to New York City and lived there for 10 years, moving to Scarsdale, NY in 1979. She worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in Economic Research, as an administrative assistant for Chase Econometrics, and she also worked as the Director of Registration and Housing for the Allied Social Sciences Association Conference, as a Director of Housing for the Democratic National Convention, a Director of Marketing Administration for Mead Data Central. Jan was a project consultant for Colgate Palmolive, and a project administrator for Round Hill Properties, Inc., a high-end, custom homebuilder in Greenwich, CT, before returning to Yuba City in 2004. In addition, she is a freelance writer/editor and has written for Builder/Architect, Greenwich Home, and for a newspaper, the Scarsdale Inquirer. Ms. Bodine has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. She is the mother of three children and grandmother of two—all living in the East. She is currently responsible at ACD for warranty work administration, working with clients in the design, bid and the construction phases, and analysis and preparation of all requisite materials, developing/updating/issuing contracts for trades, services, suppliers and clients, in-house and on-site project administration, supervision, scheduling and coordination of trades/suppliers/quality assurance, and owner walk-throughs, interfacing with realtors to track project progress, upgrades, and closings, marketing materials, future project development, and post-project analysis. |
